To connect with FileZilla to the ECON cluster and download the entire home folder, use these steps with your own account’s username and password for that server.
In FileZilla’s top “Quickconnect” bar, fill in:
Click the Quickconnect button to start the connection.
If a dialog appears asking you to trust a host key or certificate, click OK or Trust to continue.
After a successful login, the right-hand side of FileZilla shows the remote files on the ECON cluster node, and the left-hand side shows your local computer files.
In the Remote site pane on the right, browse to your home directory if FileZilla does not open there automatically; it will be located at `/nfs/home/yourusername`.
In the Local site pane on the left, navigate to the folder on your computer where you want your home directory to be copied (e.g. C:\Users\yourusername\Downloads or /home/yourusername/Downloads). We recommend creating a new folder for specifically storing your home folder contents.
Ensure this local folder has enough free space for everything in your home directory before you start the download. You can check the size of your home folder via the Remote Site pane of Filezilla (at the bottom).
In the Remote site pane, right-click on your home folder and select Download from the context menu. FileZilla will recursively download the entire folder and all its subfolders into the currently selected folder on the Local site side. Depending on the size of your home folder, this could take a long time so make sure your computer is plugged in.
Watch the transfer progress in the Queued files and Successful transfers tabs at the bottom until the queue is empty and there are no Failed transfers.
When the queue is finished, check the destination folder on your computer in the Local site pane or in your file explorer to confirm that all expected subfolders and files from your home directory are present.
