If you wish to host a personal web space with the university, there are several options:

• The ECON department hosts a basic Apache web server tied to your username (e.g. https://econweb.umd.edu/~username). Since this requires HTML experience, most users simply use this as a public portal for sharing files.
• University IT (DIT) offers Wordpress sites to all staff, faculty, and students.. This allows for a blog-style website.
• Google Sites are available through your university Google Apps account. This allows for a user-friendly interface for building websites from within the browser.
