network_printers

Network Printers

While all of our departmental computers are configured to automatically install our network printers, there may be times when you wish to connect a personal machine to print. This guide will show you how to do so on some of the more popular operating systems.

Windows

BW Graduate Lab

  1. Open the Start Menu.
  2. In the search bar at the bottom of the Start Menu, enter \\129.2.28.22.
  3. A window will pop up asking for your credentials. Input ECON\%username% into the top field, where %username% is your ECON account name (i.e. ECON\testudo). Input your ECON password into the second field.
  4. A window will pop up listing the network printers. Right click on bw-grad-lab and select Connect.
  5. Your printer is now configured under the name bw-grad-lab and ready to print.

BW Main Office

  1. Open the Start Menu.
  2. In the search bar at the bottom of the Start Menu, enter \\129.2.28.22.
  3. A window will pop up asking for your credentials. Input ECON\%username% into the top field, where %username% is your ECON account name (i.e. ECON\testudo). Input your ECON password into the second field.
  4. A window will pop up listing the network printers. Right click on bw-main-office and select Connect.
  5. Your printer is now configured under the name bw-main-office and ready to print.

CLR Main Office

  1. Open the Start Menu.
  2. In the search bar at the bottom of the Start Menu, enter \\129.2.28.22.
  3. A window will pop up asking for your credentials. Input ECON\%username% into the top field, where %username% is your ECON account name (i.e. ECON\testudo). Input your ECON password into the second field.
  4. A window will pop up listing the network printers. Right click on clr-main-office and select Connect.
  5. Your printer is now configured under the name clr-main-office and ready to print.

BW Copier

  1. Open the Start Menu.
  2. In the search bar at the bottom of the Start Menu, enter \\129.2.28.22.
  3. A window will pop up asking for your credentials. Input ECON\%username% into the top field, where %username% is your ECON account name (i.e. ECON\testudo). Input your ECON password into the second field.
  4. A window will pop up listing the network printers. Right click on bw-copier and select Connect.
  5. Your printer is now configured under the name bw-copier and ready to print.

CLR Copier

  1. Open the Start Menu.
  2. In the search bar at the bottom of the Start Menu, enter \\129.2.28.22.
  3. A window will pop up asking for your credentials. Input ECON\%username% into the top field, where %username% is your ECON account name (i.e. ECON\testudo). Input your ECON password into the second field.
  4. A window will pop up listing the network printers. Right click on clr-copier and select Connect.
  5. Your printer is now configured under the name clr-copier and ready to print.

Mac OS X

BW Graduate Lab

  1. Open System Preferences.
  2. Select Printers & Scanners.
  3. Select the + icon at the bottom left of the window to add a printer.
  4. In the Add window, right-click on the toolbar and select Customize Toolbar.
  5. Drag the Advanced item into the toolbar and select Done.
  6. Select Advanced on the toolbar.
  7. Fill in the following information in the window:
    • Type : Windows printer via spoolss
    • Device : Another Device
    • URL : smb://129.2.28.22/bw-grad-lab
    • Name : Graduate Lab B/W Printer
    • Location : N/A
    • Use : Generic PostScript Printer
  8. Select Add to add the printer to your list.
  9. A window will pop up asking if a duplex unit is installed. Check the box.
  10. Your printer is now installed. On your first print job (and subsequent print jobs if you do not check “Remember this password in my keychain”), your computer will ask for credentials.

Enter the following :

  1. *Name : Your ECON username written as ECON\username
  2. *Password : Your ECON password
  3. Your job will now print.

BW Main Office

  1. Open System Preferences.
  2. Select Printers & Scanners.

    • Location : N/A
    • Use : Generic PostScript Printer
  8. Select Add to add the printer to your list.
  9. A window will pop up asking if a duplex unit is installed. Check the box.
  10. Your printer is now installed. On your first print job (and subsequent print jobs if you do not check “Remember this password in my keychain”), your computer will ask for credentials. Enter the following :
    • Name : Your ECON username written as ECON\username
    • Password : Your ECON password
  11. Your job will now print.

  10. Your printer is now installed. On your first print job (and subsequent print jobs if you do not check “Remember this password in my keychain”), your computer will ask for credentials. Enter the following :
    • Name : Your ECON username written as ECON\username
    • Password : Your ECON password
  11. Your job will now print.
